Every minute of every day, tens of children lose a parent in Iraq and other parts of the world, and the number is increasing in a staggering pace. Thousands and thousands children have been orphaned due to political conflicts and other crisis throughout much of the Muslim countries; many children find themselves with no guardians. They depend on the benevolence of their extended families and other donors to survive, get an education, and hope for a future.

Islam is a religion that continually stresses the importance of caring for the orphans. Allah (swt) repeatedly calls on us to care for orphans in the Holy Quran, and numerous Hadith of the Prophet (pbuh) and the Imams confirm this.

‘’Orphan’’ (in NOF opinion) shall mean a child who lost his/her father and is substantially incapacitated from earning a living.
